Virgin Life Care Motivates Americans to Get Moving With New GlobalFit
Partnership
BOSTON, November 14, 2006 -- Virgin Life Care, a member of Sir Richard
Branson's world-renowned Virgin group, today announced that it provide
HealthMiles members with access to GlobalFit's nationwide network of over
2,000 fitness clubs.
People enrolled in Virgin Life Care's HealthMiles programs can now join
fitness clubs through GlobalFit at the lowest available rates and with the
most flexible membership options. GlobalFit's club network features
well-known national chains, including Town Sports International, Fitness
Formula, Bally Total Fitness, Lady of America and Ladies Workout Express as
well as leading local facilities.
"Our culture of convenience -- cars, elevators, drive through windows --
has led to inactivity and has caused a severe decline in the health of
Americans," said Chris Boyce, CEO of Virgin Life Care. "This has led to
rising rates of obesity and preventable diseases, like heart disease and
diabetes. Working with GlobalFit, we're making it easier and more
convenient for our members to get up and moving, even better than that,
we're going to reward them for it."
HealthMiles and HealthMiles Plus members simply visit the Virgin Life Care
website (www.virginlifecare.com) and enter their zip codes to find
participating fitness clubs in their area. When they click on the club of
their choice, they are presented with a voucher to complete. The process is
finalized when they bring the completed voucher to the participating club
to activate their membership or by joining through GlobalFit directly.
GlobalFit will be responsible for the administration on behalf of the clubs
and tracking and reporting for Virgin Life Care.
"GlobalFit is excited to partner with Virgin Life Care in their efforts to
improve the health of Americans," said Frank Napolitano, president and CEO
of GlobalFit. "The partnership with Virgin Life Care grew out of our
ability to provide HealthMiles members with unsurpassed quality and service
when enrolling in our fitness club network. By providing consumers and our
partners with a turn key solution, we're able to add a layer of value that
previously didn't exist."
Virgin Life Care's HealthMiles is a first-of-its-kind Health Rewards
Program that motivates and incentivizes members to make better choices,
engage in the process of getting and staying healthier, and become part of
the "prevention solution." Similar in concept to "frequent flyer programs,"
HealthMiles members earn Miles for living healthier lives. Miles are
awarded for exercising, tracking results, and improving key body metrics,
such as blood pressure, body fat and weight, and can be redeemed for
products from leading U.S. retailers.
HealthMiles is available to employers as an employee benefit. The
individually insured can purchase HealthMiles Plus, which includes Virgin
Life Care's HealthMiles and an individual insurance plan underwritten by
its insurance partner, Humana Inc. HealthMiles Plus is currently available
in Texas and Florida and will rollout into other parts of the U.S. in early
2007. For more information on program availability visit
