Recipe for a Healthier Workplace
Kathy Smith has her own unique recipe for successful aging, and she’s tailored her approach to help motivate your employees to live healthier. Using recent research, personal anecdotes, and interactive segments, Kathy will demonstrate how employers can create a supportive environment for healthy living. She’ll provide resources to assist your employees as they lose weight, improve their health, and become more active.

Obesity: Causes, Consequences and Treatment
How did the obesity epidemic in American come to be? How does it affect our day-to-day lives? Most importantly, what options are available to obese individuals who want to improve their health? Dr. Foster will review the medical, emotional, and sociological impact of obesity and how it can be treated.

Role of the Government in Promoting Fitness and Wellness: Looking Back, and Envisioning the Future
Ms. Perlmutter will address how government policies impact the fitness and health of Americans. Starting with an overview of our decades-in-the-making obesity epidemic, she’ll consider the history of nation, local and national government policies to support a healthier nation. She’ll also propose how government might create a culture that embraces healthy living and fights the battle against obesity.

Health and Wellness Takes Shape at CDC: Our Mission Begins at Home
Worksite health promotion is a public health priority for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. L. Casey Chosewood will discuss CDC's own worksite health promotion programs and share resources for those interested in creating such programs. He will highlight online toolkits available from the US Department of Health & Human Services, CDC, and other respected organizations. Dr. Chosewood will also address the increasing role of personalized health care, as science and technology create opportunities to improve the quality of care.

Legal Implications of Your Workplace Wellness Initiatives
Attorney Mark Blondman discusses the rules and regulations affecting worksite wellness programs. HIPAA rules, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other laws can affect the shape and implementation of a program. Blondman will share information and recommendations.
